A new Grandparent Support Group will hold an Informational Meeting on May 1 at the office for the National Youth Advocate Program, 15 N. 3rd St., in Newark. Please attend one of the meetings at either noon or 5 p.m. on Monday. Come join us to discuss the joys and struggles of raising grandchildren. Kindergarten Readiness Academy expands districtwide
Incoming kindergarten students now have the option to attend a five-week Kindergarten Readiness Academy across the district. If you have not registered your child for kindergarten this fall, please visit this page to learn how to register him or her. The Kindergarten Readiness Academy is a five-week program meant to assist new students in becoming comfortable in a school setting, while exposing students to letters, numbers, literature, science, math and art concepts. Preference will be given to incoming kindergarten students who have not had previous preschool experience.  Read More...

The Newark City School District is offering its second annual, free weeklong STEM Camp from June 19 through 23 this summer. Last year's camp allowed students to explore coding, circuits, 3D printing, robotics and more. The camp is for students who have completed grades 3 through 8. To register for this year's STEM Camp, please download and fill out this form and return it to your child's building principal by May 19.  Read More...

April 2017 Citizens of the Month
Every month, Newark City Schools honors about 28 students from grades 4 through 12 in every school as our Citizens of the Month. Students are chosen for what they do both inside and outside of the classroom. Also every month, a different group from one of our schools performs for students and their families. This month, the Liberty Middle School Stage Band performed for the families. Thank you to The Energy Cooperative for sponsoring this month's lunch.
