NCS preschool classes looking for typically developing peers
Newark City Schools preschool classes are looking for typically developing peers. Typical peers are selected for each class by the teaching teams. Generally, the typical candidates are screened in areas of communication, motor, cognition, and social-emotional skills and are selected to support the needs of the specific class, balancing skill levels, gender and age. All typical children must be toilet-trained, and parents must transport them to/from school. A fee of $10 per week is charged.  Read More...

Kutscherenko receives Excellence in Education Award
Hillview Elementary teacher Meredith Kutscherenko was presented Monday, Sept. 10, with the Licking County Educational Service Center's Excellence in Education Award for 2018. NCS Superintendent Doug Ute, building principal Nick Myers and other district administrators surprised Kutscherenko in her classroom with the award. She was chosen for the award because of how she has embraced trying out STEM and LEGO materials in the classroom, and has emerged as a leader on the 5th grade district team. Two NHS students qualify for regional orchestra
Two NHS students qualify for regional orchestra
Newark High School viola players Taylor Jacobs and Noel Zarnosky will perform in the East Central Region Orchestra at Ashland High School in November. The students were selected for the group following tryouts earlier this year. The region encompasses 21 Ohio counties, stretching from Delaware to Belmont, and Richland to Washington.
