Lunch with your Parent Mentor on Oct. 7
Newark City Schools Parent Mentor Ronni Bowyer is hosting a brown bag lunch from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Roosevelt Building, 621 Mount Vernon Road.
Attendees can learn the role of a parent mentor and how she can assist parents with the everyday challenges of parenthood.
The goal of the Parent Mentor Program is to help parents to become effective partners in the education for their children with special needs by encouraging parent-professional partnerships.

Bowling team to host golf outing on Oct. 18
The Newark High School Bowling team is hosting a four-person scramble golf outing at 9 a.m. on Oct. 18 at Raccoon International Golf Course. The cost is $60 per player or $240 per team, which includes golf, cart and food. More information and a registration form can be found here. 
Newark Orchestras Spaghetti Dinner set for Oct. 16
The annual Newark Orchestra Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction is scheduled for Oct. 16 in the Newark High School Commons. Tickets are available for this event for $10 and can be obtained starting 9/15/14 through any orchestra student or director or by calling (740) 670-7440. You can also order tickets through NOPA’s website at this link. 
Lockdown Procedures
Occasionally, some of our school buildings have to go under a lockdown due to a situation in the community or because of a threat involving the school. We wanted to share our lockdown procedures with parents so you will know what is going on during a lockdown, and why we take the precautions we do. Fall Fun Festival to benefit French, Spanish trips Oct. 4
Newark High School is hosting a Fall Fun Festival from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Licking County YMCA. The festival will benefit the French and Spanish students going to France and Nicaragua, respectively later this school year. There will be activities, including bounce houses, and games, as well as food and beverages. Tickets are available for presale for $3. At the door, tickets will be $3 for children and $5 for adults.  In order to purchase tickets or if there are any questions, please contact Rebekah Estep (restep@laca.org) or Juli Porter (jrporter@laca.org) or they can be reached at the high school at 670-7400.
