9th Grade Parent Information Meeting set for Open House night
Newark High School is hosting a 9th Grade Parent Information Meeting during Open House at 6:30 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 10, in the NHS auditorium. The meeting will provide an overview of the 9th grade year, including the new My 700 Project. 
Call to College hosting College Information Night for Senior, Juniors
A Call to College and Newark High School Counselors are hosting a College Information Night for seniors and their parents from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 3, in room 314G in the Hub at NHS. A Call to College staff and NHS School Counselors will be presenting. Current NHS juniors and their families will also have an opportunity to learn about college options from A Call to College Staff, NHS school counselors and a college financial aid administrator. An overview of A Call to College services for juniors and their parents is provided. This College Information Night will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 10, in room 314G in the Hub at NHS. 
Buy old Wilson Middle School Yearbooks, as far back as 1974
Wilson Middle School is selling yearbooks dating back to 1974. Click here to find the full breakdown of availability and cost. Yearbooks from the 1970s are spiral bound or hardback, while everything from 1980s to now is hardback. If you are interested, contact Wilson Middle School at 740-670-7120 and ask for Jessica Skinner. You can also email her at jmskinner@laca.org, or mail the school. Checks can be written out to Wilson Middle School. 
Wildcat Football honors teams of 1975, 2005 during annual Alumni Game
This Friday, we will recognize all of our alumni football players at Newark High School, and also recognize the 1975 and 2005 football teams. Both teams won their league and earned themselves a playoff birth. Please come out and support the Newark Football Program this Friday at White Field as we host Mt Vernon. Alumni football teams will be recognized between the first and second quarter in front of the home stands. All alumni are welcome to attend pre-game warm-ups and a pre-game talk by Mike Kopachy from 6:15 to 7:20 p.m. Tickets are available in the Athletic Office from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, or at the gate. Ticket price is $6 for adults and $4 for students.
 
Free Middle School Tennis Clinic
Newark High School’s tennis team will lead a free Middle School Tennis Clinic, geared toward any student in grades 6 through 8. The first practice will be Monday, Sept. 14, from 5 to 6 p.m. Practices will be held on Mondays and Fridays at the high school tennis court until the week of Oct. 5. Beginning the week of Oct. 5, the clinic will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and will last until the weather begins to get too cold. Click on this link to sign up. 
Pre-sale tickets for first home football game available next week
The Wildcats are expecting a great crowd during Friday night’s home football game against Mount Vernon. Newark High School is selling presale tickets throughout the week during school hours in the Athletic Office. Tickets will be sold between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the athletic office; they will also be sold Thursday until 8 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults, or $4 for students and senior citizens. If you have any questions, please contact the department at 740-670-7430. While kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., the new artificial turf field will be dedicated starting at 7:10 p.m. on Friday. The turf was paid for through many generous community donations.
