All About John Clem

John Clem Pride-Find It Inside!

General John L. Clem Elementary, affectionately known as “Clem” by many, is home to approximately 475 students and a dedicated team of educators and support personnel.

The 2014-2015 school year marks our fourth year back in our beautifully remodeled and expanded school home. Our school is one of the few “neighborhood” schools left in the Newark district, and it remains close to the heart of our many alumni. We’re honored to have many students who are 2nd or 3rd generation “Clem Kids.”

The talented team of educators and student leaders at John Clem have a rich heritage of excellence dating back to the late 1950s. Our namesake, General John L. Clem, was a courageous young man who served his nation with pride. The students at John Clem seek daily to live by his example. Our young leaders start each day hearing the talented “What’s up Clem?” student announcers recite our mission statement: “Take PRIDE in your John Clem ABCs: Academics, Behavior and Citizenship!”

We’re so proud to be a part of this truly wonderful school community!
