The Newark City Schools Communication Department manages a comprehensive communications/public relations program that builds, promotes and supports communication between the Newark school district and the community to increase and maintain community support for the district. The district regularly conducts community-wide professional surveys. Each survey gives the district important feedback from the community regarding current issues and events. Because board members and district leaders have a great willingness to listen and learn from this data, it has proved to be invaluable in determining the direction of many important issues, not the least of which have been several significant tax issues.
The Newark Schools Network (NSN-19) is an educational television station broadcasting 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on the Time Warner Cable System in Newark and surrounding Licking County. NSN-19 is located in the state-of-the-art Broadcast Center owned by the Newark City Schools. In addition to student and district programming, NSN-19 also airs a community bulletin board.
