The Community
The Newark City School District serves 46,300 residents. Primarily an industrial community, Newark has a favorable balance of light industry, small business and a large residential area that provides moderate tax base to support schools.
The city is located approximately 35 miles northeast of Ohio’s capital city, Columbus, in Licking County.
The community has all the advantages of large city conveniences and services in a smaller community. The county is home to The Ohio State University—Newark and Denison University; a 14.5-mile bike trail; The Works, a center for history, art and technology; quaint antique and shopping districts; numerous golf courses including the top-ranked public Longaberger Golf Course; and many opportunities for hiking and recreational activities at Black Hand Gorge and Flint Ridge state parks as well as Dawes Arboretum.
Within a 45-minute drive of Newark are numerous attractions including concerts, museums, art galleries, performing arts, professional sports, parks, shopping movies and dining.
