Teachers win Licking County Leaders for Learning Awards

Three Newark City Schools teachers received Leaders for Learning Awards from the Licking County Foundation today. The awards are given to 14 teachers across the county every year, and include a $500 yearly grant opportunity. Congratulations to NHS Math Teacher Chris Haren, Heritage science teacher Ashley Schultz and McGuffey Elementary 1st grade teacher Lori Schultz on receiving the awards.

Mr. Haren was chosen for his leadership in- and outside the classroom, his student relationships that help to create a positive and engaging learning environment and his overall support of student activities.

Ashley Schultz was chosen because she builds positive relationships with her students, families and colleagues. Her classroom is full of energy and the students are engaged with hands-on activities. She is involved in district STEM initiatives and always has a positive attitude.

Lori Schultz was chosen for the award due to her individual work with students, time spent communicating with parents and more.
