Members of the Newark High School Class of 1989 have created a memorial fund to honor deceased classmates by helping current Newark City Schools students. The intent of the fund is to raise money to be donated to Newark City Schools in order to purchase school-related items for students in need.
A committee made of district employees and members of the NHS Class of 1989 will be responsible for evaluating needs of students and purchases of items given to students.
The fund would help pay for items including:
- School supplies
- Dress Code Clothing, or clothing that would make the student more comfortable in the weather
- Extracurricular event fees
Tax deductible donations can be made to Newark High School Angels of 1989 and sent to 24 Monroe Ave., Newark, OH 43055. Newark High School Angels of 1989 is a non-profit organization with Federal and State filings.
Board Members include: Jeff Harris, Brooke Balding Chute, Julie McCullough Elwell, Shirley Smith, Darrin Decker, Kristi Baldwin Gagliardi and Phil Frye.
The Angels of 1989 is honoring deceased classmates, including: Aaron Brown, Jason Cunningham, Noelle Davis, Troy Fields, Brad Harkless, Cindy Lewis, Tim Moss, David Selby, Matthew Tracy, Keith Wills and E.J. Viraldi.
