Newark Choirs receive superior ratings at state finals

During the 50th consecutive year of qualifying for OMEA State Choir Finals, three Newark High Choirs received top scores and great judges comments praising their success.
Concert Choir received a Superior 1 rating in class A.
Women's Chorale was granted a Superior 1 rating in class A as well.
The Brotherhood of Newark received a Superior 1 rating in class B competition.

Newark High has far over 100 Superior 1 State Choir Finals plaques, a tradition started with former 30 year director, Lula Vaia, in the 1960's. . Mike and Kim Wigglesworth, who currently direct the NHS Choirs, have been at NHS for 20 years. Cathy Carpenter and Judy Rauch serve as accompanists. The NHS Choir Boosters are also the support system of the Newark Choir Program.
