Newark Marching Band qualifies for state competition for 39th straight year
Newark band logoThe 2018 Pride of Newark Marching Band began the season with a bang! The band qualified for OMEA State Marching Band Finals for a STATE RECORD 39th consecutive season on their first attempt of the season. NHS Director of Bands Lee Auer, in his 3rd year in the position, stated that “The band has worked so hard this season from the very first day of leadership training, through band camp, and up to now, it is so wonderful to see the students rewarded for their efforts so early in the season.” Mr. Auer also pointed out the tireless efforts of the instructional and design staff for the bands early-season success.

While the Pride of Newark awaits their performance date and time for State Marching Band Finals, they will travel to 3 additional shows. The band will travel to the Buckeye Invitational at The Ohio State University on September 29. On October 13, the band will travel to OMEA Contests, one held at River View High School and another held at Meadowbrook High School.

The band will wrap up the season once again hosting the 44th Annual Newark Marching Band Invitational at White Field, on Saturday, October 20. The contest starts at 10:00am and runs until 4:00pm with 19 bands. Admission is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for senior citizens and children 3 and under are free. The band wraps their fall season with two fundraisers; the annual Craft Show held at the Newark High School Auxiliary Gymnasium on November 3 and the annual Pancake Dinner and Concert held on November 9 at the Newark High School Commons and Main Gymnasium.
