Newark City Schools' Kindergarten Readiness Academy is a four-week program geared toward helping incoming kindergarten students become more comfortable in a school setting, while exposing students to letters, numbers, literature, science, math and art concepts. The academy meets from 9 a.m. to noon four days per week beginning the week of July 9 and ending on August 2. It is offered at four locations: Ben Franklin Elementary; Carson Elementary, where Hillview students can also attend; John Clem Elementary, where Legend students can also attend; and McGuffey Elementary, where Cherry Valley students can attend.
