Register for Kindergarten in Early April
Kindergarten Registration image
With spring approaching, it’s now time to start thinking about registering your child for kindergarten. Newark City Schools is holding its annual Kindergarten Registration period during the weeks of April 2-6 and April 9-13 at our district office, the former Roosevelt Middle School at 621 Mount Vernon Road.

Those weeks, parents can register their children for kindergarten between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Registration will last until 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, April 4 and 11, to accommodate parents who may work later. It is helpful to register as many students as possible during this time to allow the district to plan for the 2018-19 school year.

Children who turn 5 years old by September 30 of this year are eligible to enter kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year. Registration forms are available at this link, and may be filled out ahead of time. Please allow yourself 30 minutes to fill out the forms in the office, and to complete the registration process. Students do not need to be present to register for kindergarten. However, we will be conducting vision and hearing screenings if parents bring their children to the registration.

To register a student at Newark City Schools, parents need to bring the following information and documents for their children with them:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Photo ID for Custodial Parent
  • Current immunization record
  • Child Custody Records, if applicable
  • Proof of Residency (such as a paid utility bill, lease, etc.)

If you have any questions prior to registration, please contact Mary Lollo at [email protected] or 740-670-7008.
