The "Home of the Bulldogs", Roosevelt Middle School proudly overlooks Mt. Vernon Road (State Route 13) from its three stories. Originally completed in 1929, the building has been home to many of today's parents and grandparents of our approximately 375-member student body. A teaching staff of 35 provides experiences to enhance the academic achievement of each individual seventh- and eighth-grader.

The mission of Roosevelt Middle School is to ensure that each student demonstrates critical and independent thinking skills necessary to become a productive citizen, and is academically and socially prepared to successfully transition to ninth grade. Recognizing individual differences, the staff engages students with effective, holistic instruction in a safe and caring environment.

Roosevelt offers a variety of activities including hands-on electives, a respected music program, including orchestra, intervention classes for a variety of special needs, student council, National Junior Honor Society, dramatics, yearbook, and peer mediation, to name a few. We look forward to housing our student population in a new building in the coming years, thanks to the support of the Newark community.
