The treasurer administers, in cooperation with the superintendent, the financial, legal and contractual business of the district including payroll for all district employees and the contract negotiations between the district and its two unions.

The treasurer serves as secretary of the Newark Board of Education. His office keeps the official minutes, contracts and documents of all board meetings.

The treasurer also is responsible for all public records requests.
