All About Ben Franklin

Ben Franklin Elementary is a newly renovated school with an enrollment of 385 students.

There are teachers for the areas of art, music, library, and physical education. Intervention services are also provided throughout the school day. All classrooms are equipped with modern technology to give our students many new learning experiences and opportunities. Each classroom is equipped with a Smart Board and many classrooms have multiple MOBIs and the CPS clicker system.

Our school is able to offer the opportunity to participate in a variety of planned enriched academic and social activities. School-sponsored programs include art and walking club, yearbook, talent show, and student leadership. Big Brothers Big Sisters partner with our students. This is a mentoring program and they enjoy lunch, recess, games, and projects together.

The Boeing Corporation is also another generous Ben Franklin sponsor. Boeing provides site based COSI events for our students and families. Our COSI events occur during the school day and we also host a COSI family night in November.
School Wide Goal and Behavior Program
Our school wide theme for the 2013-2014 school is year is "Be a Bucket Filler." A Bucket Filler is someone who is kind, caring and thoughtful. At Ben Franklin, every classroom uses the color system to record classroom goals and daily behavior. At the end of each month, students’ check their data folder to see if they have met their personal and classroom goals.

New goals are set each month by the class and student. Every month, the students are told how many days they need to be on green in order to be a Bucket Filler, this becomes their personal goal. Pictures are displayed on the hall bulletin board when a student meets their goal.

We have monthly Goal Celebration Assemblies to celebrate student accomplishments. Sometimes special drawings are held for special surprises at the end of the assembly if you are a Bucket Filler!
