Mark Christenberry graduated from Pettisville High School in 1977 and went on to attend DeVry University, graduating in 1979.
He married Diana in 1980 and has two children, Emily and Eldon, both residents of Licking County.
Mark became an ASE-certified Master Diesel Mechanic in 1985 and owned and operated 11 trucks out of Tamarack Dairy in the mid 1980’s.
Mark’s children grew up through the mid 90’s on Maholm street, attending the elementary school of the same name. His family quickly became invested in the school, helping with fundraisers before Mark began popping popcorn at the school. He joined the PTO, eventually becoming the president from 1998-2000. Mark subsequently became president of the PTA at Roosevelt school while Emily attended.
Mark’s connections to Newark schools continued as he was asked to be the chair of the 2002 Levy Renewal that passed. Followed by co-chairing, with DM Caldwell, the bond issue in 2004 to build the new schools that also passed. Finally, he was elected to the Newark school board in 2007 to serve from 2008 to 2011. He spend 2 years as Vice President of the Newark Board as well as 2 years on the C-TEC Board. Mark was elected to the board for a second time in 2021.
Mark continues to oversee a group of trucks, staying active and busy in the transportation industry.
