Principal's Message

April 1, 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are quickly approaching the time when our school will be taking the Ohio State Tests. These state-wide assessments are identical to what was given last year, and continue to remain computer-based. All students, grades 6 - 8, will take Math and Language Arts assessments, with 8th grade students also taking the Science assessment. Since the tests are computer-based, we are only able to test one grade level at a time due to the number of available computers in our building.  Below is a table that contains all of the testing dates and length of each test.

Below are a few logistical items that may answer some of your questions:

=       All students need to be at school on time on testing days!

=       Perfect attendance is highly recommended!

=       If we have a calamity day, the entire testing schedule backs up one day, as we must take the tests in content area order.

=       If your child is absent, they will make-up the missed session as soon as possible.

=       We are running a normal bell schedule on testing days so that grade levels who are not testing on a given day can have a regular school day.  Grade levels that are testing will pick up with the class period that we are currently in once they are finished testing.

=       Breakfast will still be served in home rooms on testing days.

This is the fifth year we are administering these assessments, and the third year that they are all computer-based. As a school and district, we feel our students are prepared to the best of their ability, as the content and technology are integrated into our classrooms on a daily basis.  We know that our students will show up and give their best effort, and that is all we can ask! We appreciate your support and flexibility as we continue to help all of our students be successful.  Thank you for all of your continued support of Heritage Middle School! If you have any questions feel free to contact me at 670-7110.

Sincerely,

Nolan Sadler
