Newark City Schools has a centralized information technology department serving over 900 faculty and staff across 16 facilities. We support the mission of Newark City Schools by providing a knowledgable, customer service-oriented technical team; leading-edge classroom technologies; highly efficient, high-speed network operations; cost-effective hardware and software solutions; and strategies to meet the instructional, administrative, and financial goals of our students, faculty, and staff.
The NCS IT department supports:
- A private, 10-gigabit fiber optic network interconnecting the district's 16 educational, athletic, and administrative facilities
- A wireless network utilizing 650 access points
- A 5-gigabit connection to the public Internet
- 10,000+ ChromeOS devices, including a Chromebook for every student
- Voice-over-IP services and 600+ phones
- The take-home 1-to-1 Chromebook program at Newark High School
- Students participating in off-campus learning
- Google Workspace for Education and Microsoft 365 environments for students, faculty, staff, and administrators
- 300 Clevertouch interactive panels, and 100 additional LCD projectors and interactive devices in classrooms, including EPSON BrightLink
- A library of almost 100 apps and services for instruction, learning, communication, and administration
- Management of 200+ printers and multi-function copiers across our 16 facilities
- Administration of the district's student data privacy efforts
- Management of student-related Board policies
