Open Enrollment and Transfers

Students residing outside of the Newark City Schools may apply for admission to the district by submitting an Open Enrollment form. While we do whatever we can to accommodate students from other districts, please remember admission is based on enrollment at the school and grade level your child will be attending. If accepted, you still must reapply every year. The deadline is May 31st for new applications and May 1st for renewal applications. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

If you’re considering transferring to another Newark School, please be sure to complete an intra-district transfer request form located on the right side of this page. You can also pick one up from the school secretary.
 
 Forms for the upcoming school year must be returned by June 30.
 
 Parents need to consider the following regarding an inter-district transfer:
 
 • Intra-district transfers are granted if the school can accommodate your child at the grade level requested.
 • Transportation services are not available to students attending a school outside their attendance area.
 • If parents decide they want to return to the school in their attendance area, you must reapply.
