Licking Memorial Health Center at NCS

We are pleased to announce our partnership with Licking Memorial Health Systems (LMHS) to provide greater healthcare access to students through a secure Student Health Center located at the former Woodside Elementary School building on Woods Avenue.  The Health Center is expected to be ready for the 2026-27 school year.

The health of our students is a top priority at Newark City Schools, as is simplifying the lives of our families.  The creation of this Health Center is fully funded and staffed by LMHS and will bring necessary, affordable care to our students from preschool through 12th grade with parent/guardian permission.  The Health Center will accept a wide variety of insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, but will also provide healthcare services for those without insurance.  Health services will focus on preventative care and include treatment for common illnesses.

The Health Center will NOT be replacing school-based health clinics or school nursing staff. Instead, the Health Center will work cooperatively with the district to handle basic diagnostic and treatment needs beyond what a school-based clinic can do.  Safety and security are two of our biggest focus areas – patients will enter through electronic door access provided by a front desk employee.

Please be on the lookout for additional information from the district as the start of the school year approaches.  We will share vital information such as Health Center hours, how to book an appointment, insurance plans accepted, and how to make a payment for treatment.

Join us in thanking LMHS for their generous investment in our students.
