Weekly Newsletter 4/21/2024

April 21, 2024

Good evening Ben Franklin Students, Staff, & Families,

This week students in grades 3, 4, & 5 will take their online state assessments.  Grade 3 will take their math assessment on Monday and Tuesday.  Grade 4 will take their math assessment  on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Grade 5 will take their science assessment on Wednesday and Thursday.  All students should wear their headphones for these assessments.  This week, please be sure these students get plenty of rest, eat breakfast, and they are on time for school.  Test sessions begin promptly at 9:15 a.m.

5th grade students who met their behavior goal will attend a field trip to The Chiller at Easton on Monday, April 22.

Walking Club meets after school on Wednesday, April 24. Families should pick up their students at the flag pole at 4:25 p.m.

Talent Show practice begins this week.  All Talent Show participants will attend after school practice on Thursday, April 25 until 5:00 p.m.

This is the last week of After School Adventures.  All students will begin following their regular end of the day dismissal procedure on April 26.

All students are working towards the April behavior goal of 18 out of 21 days on green.  Our character trait focus for the month of April is wellness.  Continue to encourage students to earn Bucket Filler Cards.  The next Panther Super Scratcher Drawing is Friday, April 26.

Newark City Schools is offering free summer camp programming for the eighth consecutive year this summer—providing 12 different summer learning camps, with opportunities for students coming into grades K-12. Camps include: Video Skills Camp, STEM Camp, "Head Start" Band Camp, Newark Reads, Count Me In Math Camp, Guitar Camp,  Kindergarten Readiness Academy, Newark Codes, Newark Makes, Orchestra Camp, Art Camp, and Foreign Language Camp.  Paper registration forms were sent home with all Ben Franklin students last week.  We hope to have your student join us this summer at Newark City Schools "Full Steam Ahead" camps.

Reminder: May 4th is the last day to register your child to receive district transportation for summer camps (except Kindergarten Readiness is June 14th.)  If you are wanting transportation- you do not want to miss this date.

Wishing you continued good health and wellness.

Be kind to each other and let your excellence shine.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Cable-Miller
