Newark City Schools will be offering summer camp programming for the eighth year this summer — offering 13 different summer learning camps, with opportunities offered for students coming into grades K-12. See below for a list of camps, as well as registration links for parents. Click links to register and for more information on times and locations. Every month, Newark City Schools honors 30 students in grades 4-12 in a district-wide Citizen of the Month Luncheon. These students were chosen as they displayed acts of leadership, kindness, and service in the classroom and around the school. January’s event took place on was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Newark, Ohio. Mrs. Dean’s 5th grade students from McGuffey Elementary performed for families during the event. Newark High School classes will be remote for the remainder of the week. An air quality test will be conducted by an industrial hygienist this afternoon, concentrating on the F wing, as well as wings D and E where there was smoke. Teachers will be posting assignments on Google Classroom tomorrow, Wednesday, March 1, by 7:30 a.m., for students to be able to work on. Teachers will also be monitoring email and Google Classroom during the school day if students have questions. Classes will follow their normal bell schedules on Thursday and Friday via Zoom. Newark City Schools (NCS) in Ohio is prioritizing teacher retention across the district and has launched a new partnership with Upbeat, an innovative teacher retention organization led by former teachers and school leaders. Like many districts across the country, NCS has seen increasing challenges with employee retention. The new initiative reflects the district's commitment to address the factors contributing to retention and empowering staff members with opportunities aimed at improving district culture and climate, as noted in its strategic plan passed on July 14, 2022.

This Thursday is Late Arrival for staff professional development.School will start promptly at 9:25am.The NHS Drama Club will perform Arsenic & Old Lace this weekend. Show times are: Friday 7pm and then Saturday 2pm and 7pm.Tickets are $8 each and $5 for students, veterans, and seniors.There is no school this Friday Feb. 17th or Monday Feb. 20th (Presidents Day).
