Newark Cheerleading is hosting a Cheer Clinic for students in kindergarten through 6th grade from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, in the Newark High School gym. The clinic will feature a fun day of learning motions, jumps and cheers with Newark cheerleaders. The cost is $40 per child and includes a T-shirt, pizza, drink and snack. Any parent, student, staff member or community member can nominate a district staff member for the award, which celebrates the impact staff members make in the lives of others. Mark your calendars! Our Wildcat football team is asking fans to GO PINK in honor of breast cancer awareness month and help them Rumble for the Cure on Friday, October 6. To help support this important cause, glow-in-the-dark Rumble for the Cure merchandise is for sale, and proceeds will go directly to the Licking County Health Department’s Screening and Survivor Support for breast cancer patients. The entire Newark City Schools District will support this cause and will also GO PINK on Friday, October 6. We encourage all students and staff to wear your Rumble for the Cure shirts or pink to school and the football game! The first day of school is quickly approaching for the 2023-24 school year, and school staff members are excited to welcome students back into their buildings. School open houses have been scheduled. Please click here to find a list of open house dates and times. The first day of school for students in preschool and grades 1-6 and 9 is on Thurs., Aug. 17. All students in grades 1-12 will attend on Fri., Aug. 18, while kindergarten students will phase in throughout the first week of school.
