Two Newark students to be published in Central Ohio teen journal

Two Newark students will be published in the 2023 edition of the Central Ohio Teen Literary Journal, Flip the Page, this June. Wilson Middle School 8th grader Vanessa Rynearson and Newark High School junior Dia Bailey will each be published in the journal.

Vanessa's poem, "Whirlpools," is about the thoughts that go through your mind throughout the day. Dia's piece — a flash fiction titled "She Never Noticed" — is about a "girl who doesn't realize her body isn't what she thinks it is." The girl in the story struggles with anorexia.

Flip the Page is written, staffed, and produced by Central Ohio teens. Our mission is to provide a showcase for the work of young local writers and offer opportunities to learn about submission, critique, editorial design, and publication. All accepted writers and artists receive a complimentary copy of the journal, which is sold on Amazon. Submissions are juried by a committee of teen writers from Thurber House's Young Writers' Studio.
