Science: Today we are going to learn about objects that sink or float.
Watch this science video on Sink or Float
Fill an empty sink half way up with water.
Gather small objects from around the house and outside (for example: paper clips, leaf, straw, rock, coin, paper tube, key).
Look at the objects and predict if you think the object will sink in the water or float on top of the water if you drop them in.
Draw a picture to show which items sank to the bottom of the water or stayed on top.
Why did the items do what they did? What would have caused them to act differently in a sink of water? Were your predictions correct? Did the items do what you think they would do or were you surprised?
