Newark Lacrosse will be holding free non-contact clinics this summer at White Field for Newark City Schools athletes grades 7-12 from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, June 12, June 19, June 26 and July 10. Athletes are encouraged to bring bottles of water, cleats, and a stick if they have one. Please contact Caleb Nilo at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
A Newark City Schools bus will be visiting various spots across the district to provide free lunches to school-aged children, from ages 2 to 18, on Mondays and Fridays from June 4 through June 29. Staff members will be available to answer questions about registering for school, as well as for our Kindergarten Academy. The Academy runs for four days per week in July. The Newark Think Tank on Poverty is hosting a Town Meeting about addiction and recovery from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on June 7 at Newark High School, 314 Granville Street. Individuals and families impacted by addiction will join with local law enforcement, addiction treatment providers, mental health professionals and community members to discuss addiction and treatment resources in Newark. This event will focus on improving the understanding of what local resources are available and what is still needed to meet the needs of the community in the changing landscape of substance abuse in our area. While we continue to struggle for an adequate response to opioid addiction, the use of methamphetamines is the greater problem in Licking County.

Rear Admiral Roy Kelley, a 1980 graduate who is the commander of the Naval Atlantic fleet, spoke at graduation.
