On Wednesday, April 26, we are inviting the community to start and continue a conversation on the impact of drugs in our community and across the nation. Author and Journalist Sam Quinones will speak that evening in the Newark High School Auditorium on the topic. Newark City Schools ha been made aware of an EpiPen recall due to the potential failure to activate. We are sending this letter home with students who have EpiPens, but wanted to also share it more widely. Please view the letter to find out more information about the impacted EpiPen batches.
Every month, Newark City Schools honors about 28 students from grades 4 through 12 in every school as our Citizens of the Month. Students are chosen for what they do both inside and outside of the classroom. This month, the Carson Elementary Choir performed for the families. There will be a mandatory cheerleading tryout information meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, in the Newark High School commons. Anyone interested in trying out for cheerleading who is headed into grades 7 through 11 next school year must attend this meeting with a parent for more information.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Jeff Anderson passed away after a fight with cancer. Jeff's family is in our thoughts at this time. Jeff Anderson loved his family, as he would happily tell you any time you talked with him. He also shared a passion for the Newark City Schools, our students and community.
