The Newark High School Band Parents Club is hosting a Spirit Night Fundraiser at Cane's in Heath from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23. 20 percent of all funds will be donated to the band. A very successful 2017 season for the Pride of Newark Marching Band is coming to an end with the 43rd Annual Newark Marching Band Invitational on Saturday, October 21 and the Ohio Music Education Association State Marching Band Finals on Saturday, October 28.

Helping you to manage problem behavior and developmental issues common in children with disabilities, Stepping Stones is based on Triple P’s Positive Parenting Strategies. Every month, Newark City Schools honors about 28 students from grades 4 through 12 in every school as our Citizens of the Month. Students are chosen for what they do both inside and outside of the classroom. Also every month, a different group from one of our schools performs for students and their families. Three Newark City Schools teachers received Leaders for Learning Awards from the Licking County Foundation today. The awards are given to 14 teachers across the county every year, and include a $500 yearly grant opportunity. Congratulations to NHS Math Teacher Chris Haren, Heritage science teacher Ashley Schultz and McGuffey Elementary 1st grade teacher Lori Schultz on receiving the awards.
