Reading: Log on to eSpark and work for 20 minutes.

Science:   Today we are going to learn about objects that sink or float.

    • Watch this science video on Sink or Float

    • Fill an empty sink half way up with water.

    • Gather small objects from around the house and outside (for example: paper clips, leaf, straw, rock, coin, paper tube, key).

    • Look at the objects and predict if you think the object will sink in the water or float on top of the water if you drop them in.

    • Draw a picture to show which items sank to the bottom of the water or stayed on top.

    • Why did the items do what they did?  What would have caused them to act differently in a sink of water?  Were your predictions correct? Did the items do what you think they would do or were you surprised?
