Writing about Reading related to the read aloud text: Readers can use illustrations from the text to make a list of living and nonliving animals. For example, on page 13 the living things are the cat/kittens, dog, girl, and the flower. The non living things are the curtains, chair, cat bed, and flower pot.

Tasks:

  • Take a walk around your house. Talk about the living and nonliving things that you see. What makes something living or nonliving?

  • Sort living and nonliving things around your house into two piles. You can also illustrate and label the items you find. 


Tasks: Continue shape activities.  Watch and review 2D and 3D shapes.


Word Problems:

  • I saw 8 flowers in the garden. I picked 5 of them for my mother. How many flowers are left in the garden?

  • I planted 10 seeds in the garden and my brother planted 6 more. How many seeds were planted in the garden?
