Lockdown Procedures
Occasionally, some of our school buildings have to go under a lockdown due to a situation in the community or because of a threat involving the school. We wanted to share our lockdown procedures with parents so you will know what is going on during a lockdown, and why we take the precautions we do. Fall Fun Festival to benefit French, Spanish trips Oct. 4
Newark High School is hosting a Fall Fun Festival from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Licking County YMCA. The festival will benefit the French and Spanish students going to France and Nicaragua, respectively later this school year. There will be activities, including bounce houses, and games, as well as food and beverages. Tickets are available for presale for $3. At the door, tickets will be $3 for children and $5 for adults.  In order to purchase tickets or if there are any questions, please contact myself Rebekah Estep (restep@laca.org) or Juli Porter (jrporter@laca.org) or they can be reached at the high school at 670-7400. 
NHS earns 2014 American Legion Auxiliary All American High School Award for Ohio
Newark High School recently earned the American Legion Auxiliary All American High School Award at the state level. The NHS Air Force JROTC competed in the American Legion Auxiliary All American High School Contest that led to the award. As part of the process, NHS proved its Americanism through the following ways: U.S. flag display; daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance; participation in the National Americanism Essay Contest; numerous presentations of the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance; History of the U.S. Flag and flag etiquette; staff patriotic pride; and providing leadership in many patriotic community events.  
Scrapbook and craft with friends while supporting Newark Orchestras
The Newark Orchestra Parents Association is hosting a “Wildcat Craft and Crop” event from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, in the Newark High School Commons. For $30, attendees receive a seat, lunch, dinner, a well-lit workspace, help loading or unloading and time to craft and scrapbook with friends. Register and pay online at ncsorchestras.wix.com/nopa, under the fundraising tab.  
NCS Podcast Episode 10: Pride of Newark
The Pride of Newark Marching Band is the star of the show for the first podcast of the 2014-15 school year, as director Zak Wilkins discusses the marching band season and more. This episode includes samples from the band's current show, the fight song and the Hey song. Daddy Daughter Dance presented by Newark Youth Softball on Oct. 4
Newark Youth Softball is hosting a Daddy-Daughter Dance from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the Newark High School Auxiliary Gymnasium. All dads, grandpas, uncles and male role models are welcome. Click here for more information.
