Superintendent Doug Ute started at Newark City Schools in August 2009 after spending nine years as superintendent and four years as high school principal at Elgin Local Schools in Marion.

Mr. Ute and his wife, Kory, have four grown children and three grandchildren.

Since Mr. Ute came to Newark, the district has remained fiscally responsible, while achieving new academic heights, improving its high school graduation rates and implementing a variety of new and innovative programs, such as the School Within a School, Bring Your Own Device and more.

Throughout the school year, you can find Mr. Ute at a variety of Wildcat sporting events, plays, concerts, art galleries and more. Follow along on Twitter, at @DougUteNCS, to keep up with the superintendent, district activities and school delays or cancellations throughout the school year.

If you see him out-and-about, feel free to shout, "It's a great time to be a Cat!"
