Summer Food Service Locations for 2023

The Salvation Army will serve lunch at many locations throughout Newark and Licking County this summer, beginning on June 5 and lasting through August 11. Locations in Newark include Carson Elementary, Coble Park, the Fountain at Buckingham, Neal Avenue UMC, Newark Townhomes, the Salvation Army, Wright Memorial UMC and the YES Club. Students who made Flip the Page

Two Newark students to be published in Central Ohio teen journal

Two Newark students will be published in the Central Ohio Teen Literary Journal, Flip the Page, this June. Wilson Middle School 8th grader Vanessa Rynearson and Newark High School junior Dia Bailey will each be published in the journal. Submissions are juried by a committee of teen writers from Thurber House's Young Writers' Studio in Columbus.

Summer School

Summer School 2023 applications are now available

Summer School applications for 2023 are now available. The first session lasts from June 5 through 23; the second session lasts from June 26 through July 14. Courses taken for credit recovery are free for Newark students. The cost is $153 for one semester and $204 for both for Newark students, or $230 and $300 or out-of-district students. Middle school classes are only offered during the second semester, and fees are free for class re-takes. Click below for applications:

April 2023 Citizens of the Month

Every month, Newark City Schools honors 30 students in grades 4-12 in a district-wide Citizen of the Month Luncheon. These students were chosen as they displayed acts of leadership, kindness, and service in the classroom and around the school. April’s event took place on was sponsored by the Energy Cooperative. Hillview Elementary’s Ukulele Choir performed for families during the event. Congratulations to all students honored. Click here for a photo gallery.
