Summer Foreign Language Camp available for students in grades 4-6

A Foreign Language Camp for Newark City Schools students currently in grades 4-6 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on July 22 through July 26 at Newark High School. The camp is free and open to the first 35 students to register in each language — Spanish and French. During the week, students will learn basic French or Spanish, learn cultural songs and games, prepare and eat traditional foods, hear traditional stories and create crafts. Newark Football Golf Outing set for May 18

The 2019 Newark Football Golf Outing is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, at the Licking Springs Trout Club. Register now using the documents below and sponsor a hole. All proceeds go to the Newark Football Team. You can access the registration form and hole sponsor form by clicking on those links, and there will also be printed copies in the Athletic Office.

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten Registration set for April 15-26

With spring approaching, it’s now time to start thinking about registering your child for kindergarten. Newark City Schools is holding its annual Kindergarten Registration period from April 15 through 26 at the district office, located at 621 Mount Vernon Road in Newark. Parents can register their children for kindergarten between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. On Wed., April 17 and 24, registration will be open until 7 p.m. to accommodate later schedules. It is helpful to register as many students as possible during this time to allow the district to plan for the 2019-20 school year. More +

Kindergarten Readiness Academy scheduled for July

Incoming kindergarten students for the 2019-20 school year have the opportunity to attend Newark City Schools' Kindergarten Readiness Academy this summer. The four-week program is geared toward helping incoming students become comfortable in the school setting, while exposing students to letters, numbers, literature, science, math and art concept. The free program meets from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays through Thursdays during the weeks of July 8, 15, 22 and 29. Breakfast and lunchtime snacks will be served. Register now for STEM Camp 2019

Newark City Schools will be hosting a weeklong free STEM Camp for NCS students entering grades 3 -12 from June 17-21. This camp will be centered around space and what it will take to build a colony on Mars. Students will explore the make-up of Mars (virtual reality), getting to Mars (rockets), exploring Mars (robotic rovers and drones), and building a colony structure (civil engineering). Students will also experience space/science at The Works and take a “Journey to Mars” in the SciDome, a 30 ft, 4K projection planetarium. Registration forms are available at all NCS buildings and are due back to your principal by May 17. Wildcat boys Cat Camp set for June

The Newark Wildcat Basketball Cat Camp is now accepting registration for summer sessions in June for boys in grades 1 through 12. The camp provides the foundation for young players to develop basketball skills, and welcomes children of all talent levels.
