7th grade volleyball open gym and tryout information
Open gyms begin Tuesday, June 6th, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Heritage Middle School. All girls are asked to please wear athletic tennis shoes, knee pads, and bring a water bottle. The June calendar is available for upcoming open gyms. Tryouts will be the first week of August. Players interested are highly encouraged to attend open gyms to develop and improve their skill set and knowledge of the game. A physical and final form paperwork will need to be completed prior to tryouts in order to participate in try outs. Please contact Hollie Guenther with any questions, at

Summer Food Service Locations for 2023
The Salvation Army will serve lunch at many locations throughout Newark and Licking County this summer, beginning on June 5 and lasting through August 11. Locations in Newark include Carson Elementary, Coble Park, the Fountain at Buckingham, Neal Avenue UMC, Newark Townhomes, the Salvation Army, Wright Memorial UMC and the YES Club. Summer School 2023 applications are now available
Summer School applications for 2023 are now available. The first session lasts from June 5 through 23; the second session lasts from June 26 through July 14. Courses taken for credit recovery are free for Newark students. The cost is $153 for one semester and $204 for both for Newark students, or $230 and $300 or out-of-district students. Middle school classes are only offered during the second semester, and fees are free for class re-takes. Click below for applications:

Every month, Newark City Schools honors 30 students in grades 4-12 in a district-wide Citizen of the Month Luncheon. These students were chosen as they displayed acts of leadership, kindness, and service in the classroom and around the school. April’s event took place on was sponsored by the Energy Cooperative. Hillview Elementary’s Ukulele Choir performed for families during the event. Congratulations to all students honored.
